Designing a Large Scale IPv6 Broadband Access Service
One of the fastest growing broadband access services in our country is the Greek Student Network (EduDSL), which is generally accepted to have kick-started the widespread adoption of broadband technology in the country some two years ago. Our team has recently been tasked with the objective to enable IPv6 in this service, thus in effect enabling IPv6 for a large part of the people studying in the Universities. After reviewing the recommended standards and the available deployment options for the enabling of IPv6 in access networks, we carried out an initial small deployment of IPv6 and we draw some very interesting conclusions, which, we believe, should be very interesting to anyone looking to enable IPv6 in an broadband access service in the near future.
