E2Emon – A perfSONAR-based Monitoring System for Multi-domain, Point-to-Point Managed Bandwidth Services

We provide a comprehensive overview of the work being done within GÉANT2 to develop and deploy a scalable, near real-time, multi-domain, end-to-end managed bandwidth service monitoring system. Although originally conceived as a tool for monitoring dedicated wavelength services, the E2Emon architecture is sufficiently flexible and technology-agnostic to allow it to be used to monitor any kind of connection-oriented E2E service traversing multiple, heterogeneous provider domains. The system has been integrated into the perfSONAR network monitoring architecture and is currently in use by the GÉANT2 E2E Co-ordination Unit (E2ECU) as part of their multi-domain operations functions.
