educonf – Co-ordinated support of European videoconferencing (GN2 SA6)

educonf’s goal is to support videoconferencing (VC) and voice over IP (VoIP) services for collaboration within the European higher-education and research community. A co-operative infrastructure is under development within the GN2 project framework, in close integration with other GN2 service activities. The educonf initiative will provide: support tools for resolution of international VoIP/VC related problems, a federated directory of VoIP/VC deployments to facilitate international co-operation, a monitoring service for international reachability, and central resources to enable multipoint videoconferencing for European research projects. educonf will provide a reliable environment for European education and research establishments to communicate in real time.
