What honeypots tell us about the ongoing attack strategies on the Internet

For the last 4 years, the Eurecom institute has maintained a worldwide distributed set of honeypots. This currently comprises around 50 platforms located in 30 different countries.
This presentation provides an overview of the lessons learned about the changing strategies of the attackers, as seen from these observation viewpoints. The presentation will also describe how, in the context of the new WOMBAT European project, researchers are striving to provide automated methods to tackle the so-called attack attribution problem.
