4C - Is this for real? - Virtual environments & communities

Large scale virtual environments, using new fine-tuned communication and network technologies, are developing over research & educational networks and provide a fertile soil for new e-communities, collaborating between different domains, to emerge.
This session will give some key examples of how these virtual environments, and respective new technologies & applications, catalyze collaboration & knowledge exchange in medicine & education, the artistic world and in an urban context.
