„What is happening?” sessions are trying to give insight into the newest developments in the network monitoring area. This session will be bridging two subjects – network monitoring and security showing how they can supplement each other. Peter Haag’s talk will discuss how the data of network monitoring system NfSen are used in the SWITCH CERT daily activities to discover and investigate network security incidents. The other talk will describe the passive network monitoring system SMARTxAC used for attributing network traffic to applications. This session will be concluded with a presentation about remote configuration of monitoring probes using NETCONF protocol.
