A warm invitation to Malaga in Spain for next year's TERENA Networking Conference provided the close to TNC 2008. This year's event was held from 19-22 May in Bruges, Belgium. As participants left the closing plenary session, they received sample bottles of Andalusian olive oil to tempt their taste-buds and their interest in next year's event.
Almost 500 participants attended the conference's numerous sessions, side meetings and informal 'birds of a feather' discussions, as well as watching demonstrations of telemedicine, radio astronomy and UCL AutoBAHN. They also had the opportunity to meet sponsoring companies and the presenters of scientific posters, as well as to enjoy several social events and entertainments.
The 2008 TERENA Networking Conference was hosted by the Belgian national research network, BELNET, with local support from Event Mosaic. Sponsorship was provided by Belgacom, Juniper Networks, Global Crossing, ttec, Alcatel Lucent, Cisco, Extreme Networks, Force 10, GlobalSign, Nortel, Adva Optical Networking, Ciena, BELNET and the city of Bruges.
TERENA's Vice President of Conferences, Miroslav Milinović from the University of Zagreb in Croatia, chaired the closing session, re-capping the key themes of the event and looking forward to next year's meeting.
TNC 2009 will be held at the Teatinos Campus in the University of Malaga in Andalusia, Spain and will be hosted by the University of Malaga and the Spanish national research networking organisation RedIRIS.
